Ken was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, a long time ago, but his parents took him and the rest of the family to St John’s, Newfoundland, when he was 14, and he considers that city his home, if it is accurate to say that he is at home anywhere. He has been the Retreat Centre Director and Volunteer Coordinator for the Liebenzell Mission of Canada (LMC) since 2014 and was a pastor for 35 years in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Ontario. He holds the Bachelor of Social Work degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland (1977) and did his Master of Divinity studies at Central Baptist Seminary (1978-1981).
Ken and Heather have been married since May of 1981 and they have four grown children and five grandchildren. Ken spends his time fulfilling his duties at LMC and serving as an elder at Faith Baptist Church in Oakville. He also preaches at churches and conferences and teaches and mentors young people as well as younger pastors and missionaries. His passions include concern for the poor, the church living out its calling as the scriptures say she should, and death to hubris in the church. He lives in the constant wonder that God has been so kind as to allow him to be married to the most patient, persevering, godly woman.
Ken enjoys reading novels, American Civil War history, biographies, history, theology, and far too many blogs and websites. From May to October he is most likely to be found in his other great passion — his vegetable garden. Getting fruit from something planted after only six months is a gift from God.
