Dear Faith Family,

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth”. (John 1:1,14)

At this most precious time of year it is beneficial to pause, breathe, and think deeply about the importance of the verses cited above. At least two wonderful truths are evident here; the Son is God and has always existed and this eternally existent God came into the world. Oh the joy the is ours when we consider the majesty and wisdom of God to act in such a way. We are the beneficiaries of his grace and truly give thanks at Christmas for his marvellous work.

As we look forward to Christmas and the new year nearly upon us let us consider where we have been and how the experiences of the past year help tp shape our path forward. As we have noted  multiple times, this has been a year like no other. And we don’t mean that in an entirely positive manner. We are still reeling from this wave of COVID and the numerous consequences it brought to bear on our lives. The physical, spiritual, emotional and mental health of our society has been ill equipped to handle such a crisis.  And yet we soldier on.

And it is this “soldiering on” that should perhaps help us to see the days before us as something in which to rejoice. God has done a marvellous work and because he is faithful, will continue to do all things for our good and his glory. In light of this we do not simply soldier on but joyfully anticipate what God will do. His gospel will not lose its power. His Word will not fail. We, the people of God will prevail. Though the months to come may be filled with a myriad of difficulties we will persevere because the God of the universe guides our steps and is always with us.

So, take to heart  this Christmas and the reality of  the Word becoming flesh and dwelling with us. Put your trust in him and find comfort in his care. Look to his word of truth to guide and direct you steps so that together we will in all things give him the glory.

On behalf of Laurie and Titus I would like to take this opportunity to say a heart-felt thank you to all of our Faith family. You have been such a blessing and encouragement over this past year and have shown the love of Christ to us in the most incredible ways. We have been touched by your kind actions, gracious words and meaningful prayers. We are so thankful to our God for all of you. So from us to you - thank you and Merry Christmas.
